Testimonials

My 2 year old Boxer Tyzer is a lovely dog with a great personality, however he had a tendency to chase anything and everything when he was off the lead.
Jackie has given me the training and determination to continue training Tyzer and enjoy our time together.

Jackie has taught Tyzer and myself techniques that work for us.
I no longer have to spend most the time chasing after Tyzer when he is off the lead, he now listens and understands my commands.

Thanks Jackie, we still have further improvements to make, but at least now we are getting there thanks to you.

I have known Jackie for many years now as an acquaintance and dog lover and have always known how devoted she is to conscientious care and respectful training of her own dogs. I started training with Jackie 4 years ago after one of my dogs died and left me with only one dog who really wanted to be doing something. So I started to train Wallace in Heelwork to Music. Since then I’ve got another dog, Fergus, who’s now 15 months old and putting us all through our paces.

Probably Jackie’s strongest motivation is her kindness. She will do everything she can to help where she sees someone trying to make a good life for their dogs.

But I love her self deprecating sense of humour too, which can be quite wicked. Her training style is gentle and approachable. She understands how difficult it can be to train, and how scared you can be of failing. She doesn’t talk to you as though you are an idiot (like some trainers I’ve met). Instead she’s more likely to recognise that she made that same mistake in the past, and to laugh with you over your frustration, and take the time to help you get it right.

She also has an extremely acute eye for observing a dog and handler. She will usually spend some time getting to know how a dog moves, and will observe its body language closely. Once she has ‘got her eye in’ as she calls it, she can see what is going wrong – or right - very quickly indeed.

This is very helpful in telling you when your dog is uncomfortable when you may not have noticed this yourself. Sometimes a slight imbalance in his body indicates something else – and he may need resting or the attention of a vet. This has helped us a number of times.

Jackie’s training is patient and painstaking. She believes in tiny steps to get it right, so that you know what this feels like, and so that the dog also has practice at being right and gets lots of early rewards and encouragement. So though early progress might seem slow it pays huge dividends later because you and your dog both have confidence in each other. She teaches you and your dog a habit of clear communication which becomes second nature.

The same is true of her behavioural work : she uses her ability to observe and understand a dog’s body to listen to what it’s saying about its situation. This can cut through your frustration, and sometimes fear, and allow you to change things so that you and your dog can – even slowly – get things sorted out. Having said that, sometimes one session with Jackie has got to the bottom of a difficult problem and put in place the techniques and habits to resolve it.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Jackie’s help to anyone who wants to improve their work or their relationship with their dog. Her attitude is honest, straightforward, positive and supportive. She won’t say she can help unless she can. If you want to help your dog, she will help you to find a way to do that, even when you are finding it difficult.

She will go with you the extra mile, every time.

Splash and I really look forward to our lessons because we both have such fun whilst learning exciting new moves and correct positions.
Jackie encourages us to dream then shows us how to make our dreams come true. She is very positive and enthusiastic, having confidence in our partnership and so giving us the confidence to achieve our goals.
